Hi! My name is Hayley and I am the owner of Let’s Talk About It!
I am a fully qualified counsellor/therapist who specialises in working with children and young people (C&YP) but can also work with adults up to the age of 25 too. I am passionate about giving a voice to children and young people and am dedicated to ensuring that they feel valued and respected throughout their time in therapy and are given the opportunities to share their experiences freely and feel heard and listened to.
I trained as a counsellor with The University of Northampton and achieved my Masters (MSc) in Counselling with Children and Young People in July 2020 and gained a Grade Distinction. I also have a First-Class BA(Hons) Degree in Childhood and Family Studies and Education Studies from The University of Wolverhampton.
Whilst doing my counselling training and then for a while after qualifying, I did my 1:1 counselling work with both primary and secondary school aged children and young people on a voluntary basis for the school-based counselling service Place2Be and worked with their charity for 2 years. Since this time i have been working to widen my experience by providing individual and group counselling to students aged 7-18 within a local school. Through this work, I also had the chance to teach students their wellbeing lessons as part of school's wellbeing and pastoral programme.
As well as my counselling experience, I have worked and volunteered with children and young people in a range of different roles for nine years. This has included as a swimming teacher, a primary school teaching assistant, and as a qualified nursery practitioner with very young children aged 0-5 years. From my many years of studying and working with C&YP, I have developed a strong understanding of their learning and development and how various life events can affect these as they grow up into young adults. I am therefore able to show a deep empathy and relational depth towards the children and young people I work with.
I have up-to-date Safeguarding, Child Protection, Prevent, and GDPR training and further ensure that I keep adding to my existing knowledge of my counselling work with regular CPD training.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and therefore follow the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions, including respecting confidentiality. My BACP registration number is 381360. To further ensure I am practicing safely, I also have indemnity insurance and fortnightly supervision.
